The 136th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is underway in Guangzhou from October 15 to November 4, 2024. This event has expanded its offerings and participant base, with around 30,000 companies exhibiting, including nearly 4,600 first-time exhibitors. The fair’s theme, “Serving high-quality development, promoting high-level opening-up,” emphasizes China’s focus on high-quality, sustainable trade and innovation in manufacturing and technology.
This year, there is a significant emphasis on digital innovation, with the online platform hosting 48,000 companies showcasing over 3.75 million products—marking record participation. Among the highlights are 1.04 million green and low-carbon products, and a major boost in digital and smart products on display. The fair also includes an array of events aimed at fostering international business connections, such as 750 trade promotion events and over 250 “Trade Bridge” matchmaking events across 65 countries, intended to expand China’s role in global trade.
With an increase in global engagement, more than 125,000 international buyers from 209 countries registered ahead of the fair. Participation from Belt and Road partner countries has been notably strong, reflecting the global business community's interest in and reliance on this major trade event. The event’s scale, innovations, and new partnerships underline the Canton Fair's ongoing influence as a key platform for international trade.
